Final Blog
Marine Bio was a semester class. I enjoyed a lot of it and really liked all the mini projects we did. Some of them being the dissections and also learning a lot about the ocean. Some of the facts and details about Sharks and Fish were awesome to learn. Overall it was a very fun class but I did think there was a ton of work we had to do. Some of the HW's were a little redundant and not very important to the class as a whole. I thought without all the HW's this would have been one of my favorite classes. I know HW is an important part of a class but I don't think there needed to be as much as there was. Thank you for a fun class and a fun year as I had you for Oceanography as well.

Alternative Assignment
I stayed back at school instead of going on the field trip. I thought the blog that was interesting was the one about the Go Pro cameras. It is really interesting how animals can wear cameras themselves and we can all see what they are seeing. That is a real advancement from where we were even as short as 5-10 years ago. I thought it was also interesting to see how the Aquarium would take in sick or injured animals and nurse them back to health, that is pretty cool. I also thought all the different procedures they would do on these animals is very interesting. Lastly, i thought the penguins were cool because penguins are very cool.

Geological-Biological Timeline
My contribution for this project was the notcard, 2 pictures (Including Rock Monster) and the Tree Trunks. I learned a lot of things about the Triassic Period as well as other periods such as the Jurrasic, Teritian, etc. I learned that Jurrasic had bigger dinosaurs while Teritian had an Ice Age. Me and Sam collaborated well together and were able to get everything done on time. Also, i did about 46.3792% of the Fossil.

Plankton Declining Population
Yesterday we read about how the Phytoplankton population is slowly dwindling. Phytoplankton have been declining at about 1% each year according to science news. Phytoplankton are very important to our ecosystem. Losing the Phytoplankton would effect the entire ecosystem and totally mess everything up. As the oceans warm some of the Phytoplankton start to dwindle. The Phytoplankton staying alive is very important towards the other animals eating and surviving. Phytoplankton indirectly or directly affect every animal in the ocean and if their population continues to dwindle Global Warming could come even faster.

Marine Food Web
I was a Bull Shark. The Bull Shark eats almost anything, fish, dolphins, birds, turtles, squid, anchovy you name it. If one animal were to become extinct then the whole ecosystem would be destroyed. First one animal would have no food then that animal would slowly die, then another animal would lose food and so on.
Phytoplankton:
We examined Diatoms through a microscope. We then had to draw what we saw, which at first was difficult. However we learned that some things are more important than others and we had to take advantage of that.We also learned that Diatoms are in Toothpaste.
Energy Flow:
Energy flows through the ecosystem because Earth is an open ecosystem.
Human Impacts:
If Humans were to be destructive to the marine ecosystem then we could potentially extinct an animal which could destroy the ecosystem.

Final Blog
Oceanography was a very fun course, learning everything that is to know about the ocean. I learned many new things in this class. During this course we learned a numerous amount about the ocean and did a lot of labs. There is so much living matter within the waters, and we hardly even know the half of it. We learned a lot about different historical figures as well such as Charles Darwin and Christopher Columbus. These historic figures were important to understanding how the history of our ocean originated. We also learned that most Hurricanes happen in the Summer because the temperatures are warmer. We also learned that the moon has a lot to do with the ocean and what and when tides happen. We also learned that deeper down in the ocean the water density is more dense which makes the water less warm. These new things i have learned during Oceanography give me a new sense of what is really going on in our Ocean. It also showed me how much more we need to figure out and how much of our ocean is truly a mystery.

Hydrometer
We built a hydrometer using zinc balls. We put the balls in a dropper. We continued to add zing balls until the plastic dropper stood straight up in the water without touching the bottom. Once it was balanced we continued the process of adding zinc. If it started to not float we added salt which balanced out its salinity.
1. salinity: relating to salts
2. It will float highwe
3. H20
4. In the ocean
5. Density
